You can apply bulk changes to the labels and frames in a Project directly from the Explore tab. In each case you select the items you want to change, open the Actions menu, and choose an action. The label operations Change class, Edit attributes, and Delete labels, and Bulk classify are grouped under Edit labels in that menu. Every bulk action applies to the items you select, or to the entire filtered set when you choose Select all.
With items selected, press A to open the Actions menu. The menu is searchable, and each action shows its own keyboard shortcut inline that you can use while the menu is open.

Change Object Class

Change the object class assigned to selected objects. In the Actions menu, under Edit labels, this action appears as Change class.
You can only change an object to another class of the same object type. For example, bounding box to bounding box, or bitmask to bitmask.
Changing an object’s class removes all attributes on the selected object classes.
To change object classes:
  1. Log in to the Encord platform.
  2. Go to Projects > [select a Project] > Explore.
  3. Switch to the Labels view and filter to the objects you want.
  4. Select the objects you want to update, or click Select all to include the entire filtered set.
  5. Click Actions in the selection toolbar, or press A. The Actions menu appears, with the label operations grouped under Edit labels.
  6. Select Change class. The Edit Object Class dialog appears.
  7. Under Classes to change, select the object classes you want to change.
  8. Under Change to, select the class you want to change them to.
  9. Click Initiate Bulk Edit Object Class. Encord runs the change as a bulk job across your selection.

Edit Object Attributes

Update the attribute answers on selected objects of one class. In the Actions menu, under Edit labels, this action appears as Edit attributes.
Attributes you leave alone keep their current answers. Setting a checklist replaces the whole answer. The options you tick become the answer, and any you leave unticked are removed.
To edit object attributes:
  6. Select Edit attributes. The Edit Object Attributes dialog appears.
  7. Select the object class whose attributes you want to edit.
  8. Enter the new attribute answers (text, number, radio, or checklist).
  9. Click Initiate Bulk Edit Object Attributes. Encord applies the answers to matching objects of the selected class across your selection.

Bulk Classify

Apply a Classification, and its attribute answers, to selected images or frames. In the Actions menu, under Edit labels, this action appears as Bulk classify. Bulk classify runs as an asynchronous job, and you are notified when it completes.
The Classification you apply must already exist in an Ontology included in your Project. You can create an Ontology that includes Classifications from the Encord platform or using the Encord SDK.
To bulk classify images or frames:
  1. Log in to the Encord platform.
  2. Go to Projects > [select a Project] > Explore.
  3. Switch to the images/frames view and filter to the items you want. Depending on your Project’s media, this tab is labeled Images, Frames, or Images & Frames.
  4. Select the items you want to classify, or click Select all to include the entire filtered set.
  5. Click Actions in the selection toolbar, or press A. The Actions menu appears, with the operations grouped under Edit labels.
  6. Select Bulk classify. The Bulk Classify dialog appears.
  7. Select a Classification from the dropdown.
  8. Set the Classification’s attribute answers in the tree below the dropdown.
  9. OPTIONAL: Turn on Override existing classification to replace any existing Classification of the same type on the selected items, then confirm the override when prompted.
Overriding deletes and replaces the existing Classification on the selected items and cannot be reverted.
  10. Click Initiate Bulk Classify Job. Encord runs the classification as a bulk job. You are notified when it completes.

Delete Labels

Permanently delete all labels on the selected items. In the Actions menu, under Edit labels, this action appears as Delete labels.
Deleting labels permanently deletes all labels on the selected items and CANNOT BE UNDONE.
We recommend saving a version of your labels before you delete them. See Save Label Version.
To delete labels:
  1. Log in to the Encord platform.
  2. Go to Projects > [select a Project] > Explore.
  3. Switch to the Labels view and filter to the labels you want.

  7. Review the warning. If you want a backup, save a label version before proceeding.
  8. Click Delete … labels forever (the button shows the number of labels selected).
  9. When prompted to confirm, click Proceed to Delete. Encord deletes the labels as a bulk job.
