What is a Workspace?

Your Workspace represents your company’s environment within the Encord platform. The Workspace dashboard is where you manage and keep track of all users, Projects and Datasets that belong to your Workspace in Encord.

Entity Relationships

The following diagram shows how entities in Encord are organized.
  • Users are invited to, and entities are created within a Workspace.
  • Projects bring together Ontologies, Datasets, and Workflows.
  • A Project can have multiple Datasets attached to it, but only one Ontology.
  • One Ontology can be attached to multiple Projects.

Multiple Workspaces

Enterprise customers can have multiple Workspaces, each with its own users, Projects, and Datasets. Users can belong to more than one Workspace and hold different roles in each. A user’s role in a specific Workspace determines their access and permissions. To switch between Workspaces:
  1. Select the Workspace switcher dropdown displaying the current Workspace’s name.
  2. Choose the Workspace you want to switch to from the list.

Creating Workspaces

When you join Encord we create your Workspace for you, with one or more individuals from your business as Admins of the Workspace.
Contact support if you want Encord to create a Workspace alias that is displayed to 3rd party workforces with the Tasker or Workforce Manager user roles.
We offer the flexibility to associate any email domains with your company’s Workspace. This way, when users sign up using a specific email domain, they are automatically integrated into your Workspace. You have the option to assign different user roles based on the email domain - typically, email addresses with your company’s domain are designated as Internal roles, while other chosen domains can be categorized under Workforce or External roles.

Enforce Multi-Factor Authentication

To ensure the security of all your Workspaces, Encord can enforce multi-factor authentication (MFA). Once enabled, members are prompted to set up MFA and cannot log in until it is configured. To enable this feature, contact support@encord.com.
